5 Stars for the Usual, but Stick to the Basics Imperial Chinese Food in Roslindale is my go-to spot for a quick and satisfying Chinese food night. Their staple dishes--lo mein, fried rice, crab rangoons, and General Tso's--are always solid and hit the spot when I'm craving takeout. Definitely get the Imperial Fried Rice--it's very yummy and always a favorite! That said, if you're thinking about venturing outside the usual favorites, I'd personally vote against it. A month ago, I decided to try their Salt and Pepper wings, and they were just okay--about a 5/10 for me. Gave them another shot last night, and while they had good flavor, they weren't really Salt and Pepper wings. I'd rate them a 6/10 just for the seasoning alone, but if you're expecting that signature crispy, salty, and peppery punch, you might be disappointed. Overall, Imperial is great for classic takeout, but I'd stick to the usual favorites.
